1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Veteran Pain Tracker ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users, including veterans, caregivers, and any other individuals who access the platform.
2. Service Description
Veteran Pain Tracker is a privacy-focused web application designed to help veterans track and manage chronic pain, TBI symptoms, and related health conditions. The Service provides:
- Pain entry logging with intensity, triggers, and symptoms
- Visual analytics and pattern tracking
- AI-powered health analysis using Google Gemini
- Data export in multiple formats (JSON, Excel)
- Military branch-themed user interface customization
3. Health & Medical Disclaimer
⚠️ Important Medical Notice
The Service is NOT a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Veteran Pain Tracker is designed as a personal health tracking tool to help you document and understand your pain patterns.
AI-generated reports and insights are for informational purposes only and should not be used as the basis for medical decisions. Always consult with qualified healthcare providers, including your VA medical team, for:
- Medical diagnoses and treatment plans
- Medication changes or adjustments
- Interpretation of symptoms or health patterns
- Emergency medical situations
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 immediately. For mental health crises, contact the Veterans Crisis Line at 988 (Press 1).
4. Account Terms
Account Creation: You must create an account to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
Accurate Information: While we require minimal personal information (username only), any information you provide should be accurate to the best of your knowledge.
Account Security: You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. We use secure authentication practices, but you are responsible for keeping your password secure.
One Account Per User: Each user should maintain only one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions is prohibited.
5. User Responsibilities
When using the Service, you agree to:
- Use the Service only for its intended purpose of personal health tracking
- Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data or accounts
- Not use the Service to store or transmit malicious code or harmful content
- Not attempt to overload, disrupt, or interfere with the Service's operation
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
- Respect the privacy and rights of other users
6. Your Data & Ownership
You own your data. All pain entries, profile information, and health data you input belongs to you. We do not claim any ownership or intellectual property rights over your content.
Export Rights: You can export all your data at any time in JSON or Excel format through the dashboard export feature.
Deletion Rights: You can delete individual entries or request complete account deletion. Upon account deletion, all your data will be permanently removed from our systems.
Self-Hosting: As an open-source application, you have the right to deploy and run your own instance of Veteran Pain Tracker, giving you complete control over your data.
7. Open Source License
Veteran Pain Tracker is released under the MIT License. This means:
- The software is free to use, modify, and distribute
- You can deploy your own instance on your own infrastructure
- Contributions to the project are welcome and encouraged
- The software is provided "as is" without warranty
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with the following third-party services:
- Google Gemini AI: Used for generating health pattern analysis and medical briefings. Usage is subject to Google's terms of service.
- Google Analytics: Used for anonymous usage analytics to monitor server performance and feature usage. See our Privacy Policy for details.
9. Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability, but the Service is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access and may:
- Perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability
- Modify features or functionality with reasonable notice
- Suspend service for technical, legal, or security reasons
The Progressive Web App (PWA) functionality allows offline access to cached data, providing continuity even when connectivity is unavailable.
10. Account Termination
By You: You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion, all your data will be permanently removed.
By Us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms of Service, including but not limited to:
- Attempting to compromise system security
- Abusing the Service or its resources
- Engaging in illegal activities
- Violating the rights of other users
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Veteran Pain Tracker and its maintainers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the Service. This includes any damages arising from reliance on AI-generated analysis or recommendations.
12. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified terms. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify active users.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through appropriate legal channels.
